It is more than two years California passed a new law that requires local governments to allow homeowners to convert or build new Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs, attached or detached structures, also known as “granny cottages” or “mother-in-law apartments”).
An ADU may be attached to the existing either house or garage conversion, or it can also be built as a stand-alone unit.
Here are some highlights for City of Glendale property owners about Accessory Dwelling Units also known as a Secondary Dwelling Units:

- Garage conversion or new stand-alone accessory dwelling unit construction will increase property value proportionally to the investment, base today property market square feet value.
